racism?

Is the brave new world described in BRAVE NEW WORLD racist?  Is the book racist?  Is the author racist?  Please enlighten us with a comment below, and please be sure to support your answer with at least one piece of textual evidence from the book or another credible source.

  1. I never looked at Brave New World as being a racist book until today’s topic. In someways you can see it as being racist and in other ways you can’t really see it, since there is no actual evidence of it, until you reach chapter 7. In that chapter we are introduced to a new culture and the way the Indians are described make it seem as if they are hideous human beings “Lenina noticed with disgust that two of the front teeth were missing. And the colour of the ones that remained … She shuddered. It was worse than the old man. So fat. And all the lines in her face, the flabbiness, the wrinkles. And the sagging cheeks, with those purplish blotches. And the red veins on her nose, the bloodshot eyes. And that neck–that neck; and the blanket she wore over her head–ragged and filthy. And under the brown sack-shaped tunic those enormous breasts, the bulge of the stomach, the hips.”
